As a follow-up to my Wii story, I have a story to share. I'm glad to hear I am not the only one that these things happen to.
Yesterday, I got a text message on my cell. I won't say who it is from, but this friend of mine is a new Wii owner.
"I broke the bong! Oops! Respect the Wii."
I personally think that you cannot call yourself a Wii owner until you have broken something with the Wii.
When using the Wii, remember to move all objects away from you. Here's my true story.
Saturday night, I was bowling on Wii Sports. I moved the coffee table out of my way, but kept it in arm's reach so I can reach my glass of water when I get thirsty. Must stay hydrated when playing with the Wii.
Anyway, as I went to swing, I smashed my glass of water. Shards of glass were everywhere, including one in my foot that made a rather small but very deep gash.
I'm okay, and so is my TV (always wear your wrist straps).
It's rare that we get temperatures above 85 degrees in San Francisco. Today was one of those days. And yeah, it's not THAT hot outside (I did live in Houston once), but inside, that's another story. I live in an old (i.e. poorly insulated) victorian on the upper floor. It turns into an oven. I actually clocked 84 degrees on my termostat.
But today was a day for happy home electronic purchases!
I went to visit a friend in Walnut Creek (hey! BART has AC!) and we stopped at a Best Buy because I wanted to get an eSATA drive so I can expand the capacity of my TiVo Series 3.
For laughs, Dru and I walked down the aisle in Best Buy that had the Nintendo Wii's and there it was!
You see... two weekends ago, I was in Golden Gate Park with some friends, and somehow someone brought up the Wii and I decided that I must have one. But they aren't that easy to find: Best Buy isn't selling them online, and the only units on Amazon were part of the Marketplace and are expensive. I went to the SF store last weekend and they didn't have one.
It was funny, for there was one customer who owned a Wii and helped us figure out what we needed to purchase. I think he was as excited about my purchase as I was!
So, now my TiVo will hold 120 hours of breathtaking, high definition and I'll be having a Wii party on Friday night.
